Breast lift surgery can make your breasts firmer and younger-looking, by lifting and tightening the skin. Excess skin and tissue are removed; the skin that remains is brought together to form the new contour for the breast. The breast lift procedures, known medically as "mastopexy," can also be used to reduce the size of the dark skin around the nipple, known as the areola. For women with smaller breasts, the procedure is often combined with breast augmentation to achieve an optimal breast shape.
