Fraxel re:pair – Chapin Aesthetics
Serving Philadelphia Area, Bucks County, Montgomery County and Doylestown
Fraxel re:pair is a non-surgical treatment that delivers significant improvement in skin that shows signs of aging and/or sun damage. The re:pair is the most intensive of Fraxel’s suite of lasers, and has been cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for safety. It is frequently used to treat:
- Wrinkles
- Fine lines
- Brow furrows
- Uneven pigmentation
- Irregular texture
- Acne scars
- Age spots
- Sun spots
- Sun-induced redness
Fraxel re:pair improves the appearance of skin on the neck, chest and hands. Some plastic surgeons also use it for laser eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty).
How Fraxel re:pair Works
Fraxel re:pair treatment uses an ablative carbon dioxide laser to create microscopic wounds in the deep levels of the dermis, leaving the surrounding tissue unharmed. This triggers the body’s natural response to heal the wounds and regenerate collagen and elastin, thereby softening wrinkles and lines around the eyes, nose and mouth. Fraxel re:pair also improves overall skin tone and texture and helps prevent further loss of skin elasticity. The result of fractional laser treatment is tighter, fresher and more youthful-looking skin.
What Is treatment like?
A full-face treatment typically takes about 20 minutes and excellent results are achieved in one treatment session. During the procedure, patients often experience a warming sensation on the skin and mild discomfort, which can be alleviated through the use of a topical numbing cream and/or oral medication. After treatment, patients are advised to carefully cleanse, moisturize and protect the treated area from the sun for two to three days. Full recovery is usually achieved within a week.
Fraxel re:pair Risks and Results
Soon after Fraxel re:pair treatment, the skin’s surface will look brighter and feel softer. There will be an improvement in the evenness of the tone. Over time, the appearance of the skin will continue to improve, as the deeper layers heal. There is the slight risk of swelling, redness, itching, peeling or flaking, infection and hyperpigmentation, although the risk of scarring and delayed pigment changes is significantly lower with re:pair treatment than with other Fraxel laser treatments.
