Post-Bariatric Body Lift Philadelphia
Many times after people lose a considerable amount of weight they are disappointed to discover they did not achieve the ideal figure that they envisioned due to excess, sagging skin. After the skin has been excessively stretched it loses its elasticity, which makes it difficult if not impossible for sagging skin to return back to its original shape or size. In addition to the aesthetic concerns, loose skin can lead to rashes, infections and other health issues under the folds of the skin.
Dr. Scott D. Chapin offers post-bariatric body lift surgery to contour the body and to eliminate loose, excess skin for a sleeker figure. Massive weight loss patients deserve the figure they worked so hard to achieve and Dr. Chapin can help patients attain the appearance they imagined.
Post-Bariatric Body Lift Can:
- Tighten loose, sagging skin after weight loss
- Restore the contour of the body
- Create a sleeker figure
- Increase self confidence and body image
Our Customized Approach
Dr. Chapin is an expert in a variety of body contouring procedures that eliminate sagging excess skin and will provide a customized plan to attain your aesthetic goals. These procedures can include brachioplasty, also known as arm lift surgery, lower body lift, buttock lift, thigh lift and abdominoplasty, also known as a tummy tuck. Generally, two or more body contouring procedures are performed in conjunction with each other to achieve optimal results. Dr. Chapin can provide post-bariatric patients with comprehensive body lift surgery options that help them achieve their aesthetic goals.
Surgical body lift procedures require an incision in the targeted areas. However, Dr. Chapin strategically places the incision in a discrete location that is easily concealed by clothing or the body’s natural shape. Excess skin, fat and tissue are removed from the targeted areas to restore a flatter, tighter figure. Liposuction is often performed in combination to eliminate any stubborn fat deposits. Dr. Chapin will repair any underlying musculature that may be damaged by utilizing internal sutures. The remaining skin is then pulled taut and realigned as needed before closing the incisions with sutures or surgical adhesive tape, applying the final dressings.
Day of Your Procedure
Your procedure will be performed under general anesthesia at a Bucks County or Montgomery County AAA Certified Facility. On the day of your procedure, Dr. Chapin and his highly trained team will meet with you to review all details and answer any questions before surgery. The duration of the body lift surgery typically takes five hours to perform, however, the time can vary based on the complexity of each situation and which plastic surgery procedures have been elected to be included in the body lift. You will receive exceptional and comprehensive care following your procedure to ensure your comfort.
Post-Bariatric Body Lift Recovery
It is common for patients to experience swelling, bruising, tenderness, discomfort or pain in the treated areas. Ice packs and oral pain medication will help relieve these symptoms during the initial recovery period and any discomfort will taper during the healing process. Individuals undergoing the procedure should plan to take about two weeks off from work or their daily routine. During this time, it is crucial to avoid any strenuous activity and to get plenty of rest. Dr. Chapin will provide complete preoperative and postoperative care instructions. He will monitor and advise when patients can gradually resume their daily activities including exercise.
