Fat Injections Philadelphia
Advances in cosmetic medicine have now made it possible to fill in facial wrinkles and add volume to the face by transferring the patient’s own fat cells from another location on their body. Dr. Scott D. Chapin now offers this revolutionary procedure, called fat transfer, to rejuvenate the face. During the procedure, Dr. Chapin harvests donor fat from another area of the body and transplants the fat to the face to fill in lines and improve the facial contours. Many of his patients prefer this natural alternative to dermal fillers.
Fat Transfer Can:
- Correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds
- Add volume and fullness to sagging facial tissues
- Augment and contour the lips
- Create a more youthful, rejuvenated facial appearance
Our Customized Approach
During your consultation Dr. Chapin will assess if you are a candidate for a fat transfer procedure. One critical piece of criteria that is used to determine candidacy is that you must have ample donor fat in another area of your body such as the abdomen or thighs. After performing a thorough exam Dr. Chapin will recommend what procedures would be best to address your cosmetic concerns. Dr. Chapin will provide a detailed individual approach based on your unique anatomy to achieve optional results.
Day of Treatment
Fat transfer procedures are completed in two stages. First, Dr. Chapin will determine the best harvest area to use for the procedure. Once this has been determined an anesthetic will be used on the harvest area to eliminate any discomfort during the procedure. Dr. Chapin will strategically create a small incision and carefully extract fat using liposuction techniques. Once Dr. Chapin is confident that enough fat has been obtained he will purify the fat by utilizing a centrifuge to spin the fat and remove impurities. The fat will get transferred into small syringes to prepare for facial injections.
The face will be cleansed and a topical numbing cream will be applied to reduce any discomfort. Dr. Chapin will then methodically inject the fat into the areas of concern until the desired correction has been achieved.
Fat Transfer Recovery
There is minimal downtime associated with fat transfer procedures. It is normal to experience temporary bruising and swelling the first week post procedure. These symptoms will resolve within two weeks. Dr. Chapin will provide complete preoperative and postoperative care instructions. He will monitor and advise when patients can gradually resume their daily activities including exercise.
