Dermal Fillers Philadelphia

Dermal fillers are a popular option for non-invasive facial rejuvenation due to convenience and the high degree of anti-aging effectiveness that dermal fillers provide.  These non-surgical treatments are an excellent choice to address the signs of aging such as moderate to severe lines, wrinkles, and volume loss.  With age, our body decreases the production of elastin, collagen and hyaluronic acid.  These proteins play a critical role in the youthful appearance by keeping our skin tight, firm and hydrated.  The quality of our skin begins to decline as the production of these proteins is reduced.  Dermal fillers can be utilized to drastically improve and smooth the appearance of the nasolabial folds and mouth area.  Volume can also be restored to facial tissues to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles as well as create fuller, enhanced lips.  Dermal fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural-occurring sugar in the body, that are able to improve these age related cosmetic concerns by rejuvenating the face for a more youthful appearance.

Dermal Fillers Can:

  • Correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds
  • Add volume and fullness to sagging facial tissues
  • Augment and contour the lips
  • Create a more youthful, rejuvenated facial appearance

Day of Treatment
A topical numbing agent will applied to the skin prior to treatment to minimize any discomfort during the treatment.  The dermal filler is strategically injected in the targeted area with a fine needle.  The solution is composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural-occurring sugar in the body, and lidocaine, a local anesthetic to further reduce patient discomfort.  Depending on the number of areas being treated the treatment usually does not last more than 30 minutes.  Due to how quick and simple injectable treatments are patients find it incredibly easy to fit their injectable treatments in their schedule.

Dermal Filler Recovery
Dermal filler treatments have zero downtime and regular, daily activities can be resumed immediately following treatment.  Ice can be utilized before and after treatment to alleviate any discomfort.  Rarely, a patient may experience mild redness or swelling at the injection site.  However, these symptoms typically resolve themselves quickly.

Restylane® Silk
Restylane® Silk is the first FDA approved product specifically designed to rejuvenate the lips and to smooth wrinkles and lines around the mouth (also known as smoker’s lines or perioral rhytids).  It has been utilized in Canada and Europe for several years before gaining FDA approval in June 2014.

As time goes on, the lips and skin surrounding the mouth begin to show signs of aging.  This often results in lip thinning, lost shape and an increase in vertical lines above the lip.  Restylane® Silk is a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid that is made of smaller, smoother particles than those used in other products.  The composition of Restylane® Silk is specifically designed to achieve subtle, natural looking results in these areas.

Minimal swelling, discomfort and bruising are associated with dermal filler injections that usually resolve in a few days.  We recommend discontinuing St. John’s Wort, high doses of vitamin E supplements, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, aspirin, and similar blood thinners prior to injections whenever possible to reduce these risks.

In the study that led to the FDA’s approval of Restylane® Silk, 98 percent of participants reported an improvement in lip fullness two weeks after treatments and 76 percent showed fullness six months after their injection.  According to the manufacturer, Restylane® Silk results last for at least six months.  Treatment time varies from patient to patient.

This injectable non-surgical treatment contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to minimize patient discomfort.  Dermal filler treatments can be performed in a brief office visit that generally lasts no longer than 30 minutes depending on the number of areas being treated.

Restylane® Lyft
As we age our face loses volume and natural fat in the cheek and mid-face region.  This can result in sagging facial skin with visible wrinkles and folds.  Restylane® Lyft is a clear gel formulated with hyaluronic acid that is designed to mimic your body’s own hyaluronic acid.  This is an ideal, non-surgical treatment that is specifically designed to regain definition and fullness to the cheek region.  A natural-looking, more rejuvenated appearance can be achieved with Restylane® Lyft.  This injectable gel contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to minimize patient discomfort.  Dermal filler treatments can be performed in a brief office visit that generally lasts no longer than 30 minutes depending on the number of areas being treated.
