Brow Lift

Brow Lift Surgery In Philadelphia, PA with Dr. Scott Chapin

The aging process is accompanied by the loss of skin elasticity and muscle tone that can cause the skin on your forehead and eyebrows to sag and wrinkle. Stress and overactive muscles in your face can exacerbate the problem. These signs of aging not only give you a more mature appearance, but can also make you look sad, tired, or even angry. A forehead lift, also known as a brow lift, can correct this problem and restore more vibrancy to your face.

Benefits Of Brow Lift

Brow Lift Procedure Can:

Dr. Chapin's Customized Approach To Brow Lifts

Dr. Scott Chapin will make a surgical incision from within the hair-bearing scalp. Through the incision, he lifts the forehead skin to smooth out wrinkles and creases. He may adjust any muscles that are causing the brow to furrow or sag. Dr. Chapin will trim excess skin and tighten the remaining skin across the forehead. Lastly, he will close the incisions with sutures and place surgical dressings. A brow lift can be performed as a singular procedure or in conjunction with other facial rejuvenation procedures such as a facelift and eyelid surgery.

If Dr. Chapin elects to use the endoscopic approach, he will make three short incisions along the top of the scalp and on the temples (hidden within the hair). Through the incisions, he will insert an endoscope: a thin tube with a small camera attached to one end, which projects images of the internal structures of the forehead onto a screen in the operating room. Although the endoscopic technique is less invasive than traditional surgery, it is not always the most effective option for every patient. Dr. Chapin will review this option with you during your consultation.

Dr. Chapin may recommend a lateral brow lift instead of a full or endoscopic brow lift depending on your anatomy. A lateral brow lift is performed through a small incision on the hair-bearing temple region. This variation of a brow lift has less chance for bruising and other complications as noted with other techniques. Fillers or fat injections may be used to improve the results of this procedure as well.

FAQ

Brow Lift in Philadelphia

Most patients desiring a brow lift are between 45-60 years old. There are younger patients who are genetically predisposed to droopy brows who could greatly benefit from a brow lift as well.

Neither procedure is better than the other— but one procedure may be more beneficial to a specific patient and his/her aesthetics goals. A brow lift is performed to address low, sagging brows. An eyelid lift is performed to address heavy, sagging eyelids. Dr. Chapin will assess you at your consultation to tailor a plan specific to you and your goals.

Yes! It is still recommended to get Botox after a brow lift. A brow lift will result in a more youthful brow position and may improve some of the forehead wrinkles; however, a brow lift does not affect the forehead muscle. Therefore, dynamic wrinkles will continue to develop as you age. Botox will relax the forehead muscle and help to prevent deep dynamic wrinkles from forming, creating a smoother, softer appearance to the skin now and in the future.

A brow lift result should last for a decade.

A brow lift can help to correct the upper eyelids; however, for a more drastic result, an upper eyelid blepharoplasty may be recommended in conjunction with a brow lift.

A brow lift will dramatically reduce the dynamic wrinkles on the forehead, as well as eliminate the sagging skin in the forehead and upper eyelid region. Your brows will be lifted to a more youthful position which corrects the heavy appearance for up to a decade. Botox will provide more subtle, short-term improvements. Botox will relax the forehead muscles for 3-4 months, creating a smoother appearance and may subtly lift the brow position during that time frame.
