In the last decade, tattoo popularity has drastically increased–and so has tattoo dissatisfaction. Fortunately, if you are suffering from buyer’s remorse, it can now be safely removed thanks to advanced technology in the cosmetic industry. The colored pigment utilized in tattoos used to be considered permanent. However, Harmony XL laser at Chapin Aesthetics has the ability to break down the pigment in the tattoo and allow it to be easily excreted by the body’s natural filtering system.

Our Customized Approach To Tattoo Removal
During your consultation with one of our skin care specialists, your tattoo concerns will be discussed and you will be provided with a customized treatment plan to achieve your goals.
Laser tattoo removal works by breaking up the ink with short bursts of high-intensity light. The Harmony XL laser is designed to target the tattooed pigment without affecting the surrounding skin. After the pigment has been fragmented by the laser light, the body’s immune system will remove the particles, and the tattoo fades from sight.
The number of treatments required to effectively remove a tattoo depends on a variety of factors, such as age, size, and color of the tattoo. Typically, anywhere from four to 10 treatment sessions are necessary to remove enough ink in the tattoo to make it invisible.

What To Expect During Your Tattoo Removal Treatment
During your laser tattoo removal treatment, your eyes will be shielded with a protective eye shield. A topical anesthetic will be utilized to numb and minimize discomfort in the area being treated. The nurse aesthetician will glide the laser hand piece over the tattoo to emit bursts of intense, concentrated laser light. As the laser light passes through the surface layers of the skin, it is absorbed by the pigment of the tattoo, causing the pigment to break up. After each treatment, the pigment will be removed by the body’s natural filtering system. Ice and antibiotic cream will be applied to the treated area post treatment. A bandage will also be placed over the treated area to prevent possible infections.
Tattoo Removal Treatment Recovery
Tattoo removal requires little to minimum downtime. You may need to apply ointment and keep the treated area bandaged for a specific length of time. It is common to experience mild swelling, tingling, or discomfort post treatment. It is critical to protect the treated area from the sun after laser tattoo removal treatments.
