Cellulaze Treatments Philadelphia

Women of all ages can experience dimpled, uneven skin that can appear on the thighs, buttocks, and other parts of the body—known as cellulite. It is a common belief that cellulite is related to excessive fat that can be addressed through exercise and a healthy diet. Although losing weight can improve the appearance of cellulite, it does not ameliorate the problem, because cellulite is caused by a structural issue below the skin. The structure of women’s skin is different than men’s, which is why cellulite is typically seen more often in women compared to men.

There are three structural reasons why cellulite forms:

  • The connective tissue bands underneath the skin surrounding fat cells can become tight and inflexible
  • Inflated pockets of fat get trapped by the rigid bands and push up against the skin
  • Areas where skin tends to be thin exacerbate the appearance of cellulite

3 Structural Problems Linked to Cellulite

Aging, heredity, hormones, weight, and gender differences in the skin are the key factors that can impact the development of cellulite. There are numerous ineffective lasers and technologies on the market that promise to cure the frustrating problem of cellulite. One of the main reasons these options are not effective is because they attempt to treat cellulite above the skin, when the real problem with cellulite lies beneath the skin.

Cellulaze is a breakthrough in cellulite treatment that utilizes pulsed laser wavelength at the subdermal level to target cellulite precisely at the source of the underlying structural tissue. Permanent reduction of cellulite can be achieved after only one treatment. Cellulaze has the ability to pinpoint and disrupt dimpled pockets of herniated fat. The fat trapped under fibrous bands are then thermally broken up, and collagen and elastin are built at the hypodermal junction. Cellulaze is the first minimally invasive cellulite treatment that is backed by extensive clinical data.

Our Customized Approach

Dr. Scott Chapin will listen carefully to all of your concerns and conduct a thorough examination. A customized approach will be created that is best suited to meet your aesthetic goals. To maximize results, liposuction and other procedures are commonly performed in conjunction with Cellulaze. Dr. Chapin offers a wide range of techniques, and he will recommend a plan based on your individual needs.

Before your Cellulaze treatment, Dr. Chapin will mark the areas of cellulite to be treated with a marker. A few tiny incisions will be made that are an estimated size of the tip of a pen. Local anesthesia will be utilized to eliminate any pain or discomfort. The Cellulaze laser fiber is threaded through a small tube—a cannula—and inserted though the incision site. Pockets of fat will be leveled out first with the laser fiber. The fibrous bands that pull on the skin will be released to treat the appearance of dimples. The stimulation of collagen increases the skin’s depth and elasticity that results in a smoother, sleeker look. Finally, the liquefied fat is gently pressed out.

The Day of Your Procedure

Your procedure will be performed with a local anesthetic at our Doylestown office. On the day of your procedure, Dr. Chapin and his highly trained team will meet with you to review all details and answer any questions before your procedure. Generally, Cellulaze takes an estimated hour to an hour and a half. You will receive exceptional and comprehensive care following your procedure to ensure your comfort.

Cellulaze Recovery

The treated area may be tender, sore, or numb immediately following the Cellulaze procedure. Bruising may last about three weeks following the procedure. Some patients may experience fluid drainage from the incision site(s) for one to two days post procedure. We recommend patients allow for one to two days off from work and avoid strenuous activity for one to two weeks. Dr. Chapin will provide instructions for both pre- and post-Cellulaze procedure care that will minimize complications and maximize your aesthetic benefits. The results will continue to improve for the next three to 12 months.
