Mommy Makeover Philadelphia
It is common following pregnancy for women to notice that their skin has lost some of its elastic quality. They may begin to experience sagging skin in a variety of areas including the breast and abdominal region. Even those who exercise regularly and maintain a healthy diet can experience long lasting changes to their body.
Pregnancy can cause stubborn fat or loose, excess skin in your abdominal area that can cause you to feel frustrated about the look of your midsection. Also, many times the abdominal muscles are permanently weakened and/or separated after pregnancy. This procedure is designed to remove excess fat and skin in the abdominal region as well as tighten the abdominal muscles. Abdominoplasty, also known as a tummy tuck, can help you achieve a flatter, firmer, and tighter midsection that restores balance back to your body.
Many women also experience a loss of volume in their breast tissue and start to notice sagging in the breasts post pregnancy and/or nursing. To best address the problem of breasts that have lost volume and begun to sag, Dr. Scott D. Chapin offers his patients the option of a breast lift in conjunction with breast augmentation. This procedure is also known as augmentation mastopexy or breast lift with breast implants. The breast tissue is lifted and tightened as in a traditional breast lift, but then an implant is inserted in order to restore volume and fullness to the breasts. Often, this combination procedure can achieve more youthful and natural-looking results than breast lift surgery alone. During your consultation with Dr. Chapin he will discuss the options of breast lift surgery with and without implants. Dr. Chapin will walk you through the key decision points to ensure he understands your overall aesthetic goals.

Mommy Makeover Recovery
A mommy makeover will require you to stay the first night following the procedure at a hospital to monitor your progress. You may notice bandages, compression garments and drainage tubes after your surgery. The drainage tubes help alleviate fluid accumulation under the skin and will be removed one or five days post surgery. The treated areas may be red, swollen or bruised. It may also feel tender, uncomfortable or numb for several days while your body heals. These symptoms are normal and will subside with time. Ice packs and oral pain medication will help alleviate any discomfort or pain you may experience.
You can expect to take about two weeks off from work or from your daily routine. It is critical to get plenty of rest and avoid any strenuous activity during that time. Dr. Chapin will provide complete preoperative and postoperative care instructions. He will monitor and advise when patients can gradually resume their daily activities including exercise. Although some patients notice results immediately after surgery, it typically takes three to six months to see the full aesthetic results after the swelling subsides.
