Day of Treatment
Fat transfer procedures are completed in two stages. First, Dr. Chapin will determine the best harvest area to use for the procedure. Once this has been determined, an anesthetic will be used on the harvest area to eliminate any discomfort during the procedure. Dr. Chapin will strategically create a small incision and carefully extract fat using liposuction techniques. Once Dr. Chapin is confident that enough fat has been obtained, he will purify the fat by utilizing a centrifuge to spin the fat and remove impurities. The fat will get transferred into small syringes to prepare for facial injections.
The face will be cleansed, and a topical numbing cream will be applied to reduce any discomfort. Dr. Chapin will then methodically inject the fat into the areas of concern until the desired correction has been achieved.
Fat Transfer Recovery
There is minimal downtime associated with fat transfer procedures. It is normal to experience temporary bruising and swelling the first week post procedure. These symptoms will resolve within two weeks. Dr. Chapin will provide complete preoperative and postoperative care instructions. He will monitor and advise when patients can gradually resume their daily activities, including exercise.
