Rhinoplasty
Adjust The Size, Shape, Or Proportions Of Your Nose To Improve Facial Harmony In Philadelphia
Rhinoplasty at the Philadelphia area’s Chapin Aesthetics can reshape the nose to create a natural result that is in harmony with your facial features.
Commonly referred to as a nose job, rhinoplasty can improve the appearance of the dorsum or bridge of the nose as well as the nostrils and the tip to bring balance to the face. Breathing issues such as a deviated septum, obstructions in the nasal airway, and other problems in the internal nasal structures can also be addressed. Dr. Scott D. Chapin will create a customized approach that is best suited to meet your needs and achieve facial symmetry.
Rhinoplasty Can:
- Narrow a wide nose
- Correct an upturned or drooping nasal tip
- Straighten a crooked nose
- Reduce a large or deformed dorsal hump
- Rectify the size of the nose (too large or small)
- Refine a bulbous, protruding, or amorphous tip
- Enhance the overall nasal appearance
Our Customized Approach
Dr. Chapin can take one of two surgical approaches to rhinoplasty: open or closed. During open rhinoplasty, a small incision is made in the columella (the strip of skin separating the nostrils). This external incision is strategically placed so that it is virtually invisible.
In a closed rhinoplasty, the incisions are made within the nostrils. These are internal incisions that will not be visible after the nose job procedure. Through the incisions, Dr. Chapin makes the necessary surgical alterations to sculpt the underlying structure of the nose. He is able to increase or decrease the size of the nose, alter the shape, narrow the nostrils, refine the nasal tip, and smooth a bump on the nasal bridge.
When Dr. Chapin is finished with the surgical alterations, he drapes the skin back over the restructured framework of the nose, closes the incisions with stitches or sutures, and places surgical dressings around the nose.

Generally, a rhinoplasty procedure takes about three hours to four hours to perform. You will receive exceptional and comprehensive care following your rhinoplasty to ensure your comfort.
What To Expect From Rhinoplasty Recovery
You may experience the feeling of pressure or discomfort for up to three days after your procedure. Generally, people can return to a sedentary job five to seven days after surgery. Light workouts can be initiated two weeks after surgery, and high-impact exercise can resume three to four weeks after surgery.
Dr. Chapin will provide complete preoperative and postoperative care instructions. He will monitor and advise when patients can gradually resume their daily activities, including exercise.
