Erbium Philadelphia
Laser skin resurfacing has long been the gold standard to reset the clock on aging. In the past, laser skin resurfacing has been linked with painful treatments that require general anesthesia and long periods of recovery time. Now, with erbium skin resurfacing you can significantly improve the signs of aging and sun damage with fewer side effects associated with other laser resurfacing procedures. The erbium technology is specifically designed to eliminate superficial and deep lines and wrinkles on the face, hands, neck and chest without damaging the surrounding tissue. There are other types of skin resurfacing lasers that treat the signs of aging. However, the erbium skin resurfacing laser is unique due to the superior results that can be achieved with milder side effects such as swelling, bruising and redness. There is a drastic reduction in recovery time for erbium patients compared to patients treated with CO2 laser resurfacing due to the advanced technology associated with erbium skin resurfacing.
Younger, smoother, tighter skin can be revealed with less downtime through erbium skin resurfacing.
Erbium Skin Resurfacing Can:
- Eliminate superficial and deep lines and wrinkles
- Stimulate collagen production and tighten skin
- Drastically even skin tone and texture
- Reduce acne scars and other skin irregularities
- Unveil younger, smoother skin for a more youthful look
Our Customized Approach
During your consultation with Dr. Scott D. Chapin your skin concerns will be discussed and you will be provided with a customized treatment plan to achieve your goals. If it is determined that erbium skin resurfacing would be an appropriate treatment for you, Dr. Chapin will discuss the procedure with you in detail.
The Erbium laser works by emitting light that is absorbed by water when the light hits the skin. Tissue containing water is then vaporized causing the skin underneath to contract. The excess heat generated by the laser stimulates the formation of new collagen, which further tightens the skin. The particular type of light in the erbium laser reduces the amount of redness, swelling and overall downtime compared to past laser procedures. This latest advancement in laser skin resurfacing technology has opened up options to a wider range of people. Erbium skin resurfacing creates tighter, smoother skin with a dramatic decrease in visible lines and wrinkles.
Day of Treatment
The erbium skin resurfacing procedure will be performed on an outpatient basis. Both oral pain medication and topical medication will be administered to ensure your comfort. The procedure takes approximately an hour to perform. An ointment will be applied post treatment and you will be given detailed post care instructions.
Erbium Recovery
It is common to experience redness, swelling, burning, stinging, peeling and discomfort during your erbium recovery. Typically, the symptoms start to subside in three to five days and are fully recovered within seven to ten days. It is critical to protect your skin from the sun post treatment. Dr. Chapin will provide complete preoperative and postoperative care instructions. He will monitor and advise when patients can gradually resume their daily activities including exercise.
