IPL Photoplane Philadelphia

This customized IPL Photofacial treatment produces optimal results by first performing a dermaplane treatment prior to the IPL treatment.  Dermaplaning is a safe, non-abrasive treatment that utilizes a scalpel to exfoliate the epidermis of dead skin cells and of fine vellus hair known as “peach fuzz.”  Removing the facial hair and dead skin cells allows the IPL light to penetrate deeper into the skin for superior results.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Photofacial
Over time you may notice that the tone and color of your skin becomes marred by age spots, rosacea, freckles and other pigmentation concerns.  Intense pulsed light (IPL), also known as a photofacial, is the gold standard to drastically improve the clarity, tone and texture of the skin.

IPL technology utilizes multiple wavelengths of light to penetrate through the skin to rejuvenate the skin starting at the deepest level.  Our Skin Care Specialists safely and effectively target a wide range of skin concerns with advanced IPL technology on the face, neck, chest, hands, arms as well as other areas.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Photofacial Can:

  • Diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Eliminate age spots, freckles and brown spots
  • Reduce redness and broken capillaries
  • Treat melasma and rosacea
  • Even skin tone and rejuvenate the skin for a more youthful appearance

Our Customized Approach
During your consultation with one of our medical aesthetics specialists your skin concerns will be discussed and you will be provided with a customized treatment plan to achieve your goals.  Typically, most patients require two or more IPL sessions for optimal results.

The IPL laser will emit a high intensity blast of light that penetrates the surface of the skin to the deeper level of the dermis.  This light is absorbed by specific pigments in the skin such as blood in vascular lesions or melanin in pigmented lesions.  The heat generated in this process treats red and brown pigments in the skin as well as stimulating collagen and connective tissue for a younger, more rejuvenated appearance.

Day of Treatment
Your skin will be safely exfoliated with a scalpel, which will remove the epidermis of dead skin cells and fine vellus hair known as “peach fuzz.”  The skin is held taut as light strokes are made across the skin at a 45-degree angle with a scalpel revealing brighter and smoother skin.  Next, your skin will prepped for the IPL photofacial.  Prior to your IPL photofacial treatment your eyes will be shielded by a protective eye shield and a topical anesthetic will be utilized to numb and minimize discomfort in the area being treated.  Ice and antibiotic cream will be applied to the treated area post treatment.

PhotoPlane Recovery
There is little to zero downtime associated with Intense Pulsed Light treatment because the top layer of the skin is not damaged.  Some patients may experience mild swelling or redness post treatment but the symptoms quickly subside.  It is critical to protect the treated areas from the sun with the use of sunscreen.
