Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser Skin Resurfacing In Philadelphia, PA with Dr. Scott Chapin

Laser skin resurfacing will smooth your skin, making any scars (including acne) and uneven texture less noticeable in just one treatment. This procedure involves very little downtime and can be performed in the office by Dr. Scott Chapin. In two to four laser skin resurfacing treatments with Erbium Fraxel, we can help stimulate the growth of new skin cells to replace those damaged by sun exposure or aging. Treatments can be performed on your face, neck, chest, or hands.

Lasers are quickly becoming an indispensable tool for cosmetic surgeons. They provide an extremely controllable way to remove specific areas of tissue without causing damage to anything but the tissue being removed. Also, laser treatment does not require injections or incisions, which is attractive to many patients. This makes them an excellent option for resurfacing skin.

What Are The Benefits Of Laser Skin Resurfacing?

The laser quickly and effectively damages the top layers of skin, revealing fresh, healthy, and youngerlooking skin beneath the surface. Laser skin resurfacing can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles (especially around the eyes). It is a great option to remove age spots, blemishes, and other areas of discoloration. Our laser skin resurfacing patients enjoy an overall improvement in the tone and texture of their skin.

Lutronic eCO2® Laser

Chapin Aesthetics offers a cutting-edge solution for individuals dealing with acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and significant wrinkles through the advanced Lutronic eCO2® laser treatment.

This state-of-the-art ablative laser technology features smart targeting capabilities that enhance the precision and effectiveness of skin resurfacing treatments. By selectively addressing damaged skin cells, the Lutronic eCO2® laser not only targets imperfections but also stimulates the production of healthy skin and collagen fibers. This approach leads to quicker recovery times and remarkable improvements in skin texture and coloration.

The adaptability of the Lutronic eCO2® laser allows for customized treatments, thanks to its ability to adjust settings for optimal dispersion of laser energy. This feature is particularly beneficial for minimizing downtime, as it reduces heat absorption in surrounding tissues.

Some technological advancements made with the eCO2® include:

Precision: The customizable Fractional CO2 Laser offers precise control down to 0.1mm, allowing for a tailored balance between achieving effective results and ensuring safety. This means we can adjust the laser to emit either surface-level (non-ablative) or deeper (ablative) energy safely, depending on what’s needed for the treatment.

Controlled Chaos Technology: Thanks to its patented Controlled Chaos Technology (CCT™), this laser introduces a unique way of delivering energy in randomized patterns. This innovative approach helps prevent the risks associated with too much heat in one area, making the procedure safer and more comfortable for patients.

EcoTone™: EcoTone™ provides a gentler option for skin resurfacing that doesn’t require much downtime. This means patients can enjoy the benefits of a skin refresh without having to take significant time off from their daily activities.

The device works safely on areas like the face, neck, décolletage, and hands.

While some discomfort may be expected during the eCO2® procedure, akin to the sensation of a rubber band snapping against the skin, Chapin Aesthetics is committed to ensuring patient comfort through the use of numbing creams and various other techniques. The laser’s advanced delivery system further enhances patient comfort and accelerates healing by reducing heat absorption and limiting the number of passes needed over the same skin area.

Comprehensive Care
Superior Results

Dr. Scott D. Chapin is a highly specialized, board-certified plastic surgeon with advanced training in breast and aesthetic surgery. His extensive experience and expertise in the aesthetics industry deliver superior results that help patients achieve their aesthetic goals.

What Happens During Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Medications will be administered prior to laser resurfacing to numb the area and prevent you from experiencing any pain during treatment. Treatment with the Erbium Fraxel laser takes less than an hour; the exact length of your appointment depends on the size of the treatment area and the severity of the skin issues that are being treated.

Dr. Chapin will glide the Erbium Fraxel handpiece of the treatment area. The handpiece will deliver thousands of microscopic laser columns, which treat a fraction of the skin without damaging the majority of the skin surface. This stimulates the body’s collagen matrix to contract between the tiny injuries, which causes an all-over tightening of the skin.

After completing treatment, Dr. Chapin may apply an ointment or petroleum jelly to protect the area. He may also add a bandage or dressing. Dr. Chapin usually recommends a series of three to five treatment sessions for optimal results. He advises spacing appointments out by two to four weeks to allow the skin time to heal between treatments.

Laser Skin Resurfacing Recovery

After a Erbium Fraxel appointment, the treated area may temporarily look red and swollen. The redness will disappear, and the skin may look pink for several weeks. The skin may also feel like it has been mildly sunburned. It’s normal for the skin to peel and flake from treatment. New skin will form in the treated area within seven to 10 days, and the results will continue to improve over time as new collagen and elastin develop.
